I’m a fan of things that go bump in the night—at least I like to read and write about them. I write both Young Adult and New Adult romances, frequently with a paranormal twist. (No vampires or werewolves allowed…I see enough of them when I watch The Vampire Diaries, and can any other vampire really compare with Damon Salvatore?)

My preschool teachers began to worry a bit when I said that I wanted to be a witch when I grew up and my favorite color was black. Thankfully, my imagination still gets a good workout when I write about the secrets people keep. And don’t we all have a few secrets?

When I grow up, my dream is to work at the Haunted Mansion. Until then, watching Ghost Hunters will have to count as research.

I’m represented by Kathleen Rushall of Marshal Lyon Literary Agency.

ARC REVIEW : Days of Throbbing Gristle by Kevin Cole

Does Heaven know you're miserable now?

It’s 1987. Sam Henry Hay, a 17-year-old exchange student from Sheffield, hops into Texas, USA, with one burning ambition: Manipulate his gullible host parents into funding his university, and leave his dead-end life in Yorkshire behind.

But is Sam manipulating America or America manipulating Sam? The clever lad schmoozes his way into many a bed and purse, yet can’t get rid of anyone. He executes careful plans, only to watch them disastrously fall apart. Worst of all, this once proud nihilist watches in horror as he reveals a conscience, in a world growing ever darker around him.

Days of Throbbing Gristle is not your typical teenage tale. It’s a razor-slashing journey through a time and place that really was as bad as you’ve heard. For some, high school is the best time in their lives. For others, it’s a miracle they make it to the other side.

Add To Goodreads!

Days Of Throbbing Gristle is a very unusual read indeed. I haven’t read anything like it ever before. This book left me with mixed feelings. I really can’t put this story in a particular category, as it contains many layers.
The writing style is not what I’m used to, so it took me a while to get in the hang of it. When I read the summary of this book , I was like yeah okay, I can guess, along the way where the story is going and boy was I wrong, right until the last page.
DOTG is the story of Sam Hay, an exchange student from England who comes to America and lives with his host family as he finishes his last year of school and try and get into a uni.
I couldn’t really understand Sam’s character. I found him to be really complex. He could be sweet one minute and downright cruel the next. What was his deal? I hung in the balance of deciding whether Sam’s character was good or bad. I still haven’t decided. Whenever I thought okay, so he might have some redeeming qualities to him, he had to do something for me to take my though back. Although sometime I found his humor placed at the right place. I really loved his sarcastic butt than.
The other characters such as Jill or Chelsea were realistic enough and well written.  Donna, I absolutely loathed. She was horrible. Ugh! And Heather, that poor girl. I feel for her. Then there was Paul Chase. He was one of my favorite characters in the book and the ending he got was absolutely tragic. I felt terrible.
The book also deals with sensitive topics such as religion, drugs, sex, suicide and so on.  Some scenes were too vivid and abusive for my taste. But that could be just me. You could always read the book yourself and decide. You might enjoy it. I know I did, for the most part. Also the length of the book was long, as I don’t really go for such long books. If it was shorter I feel I could have enjoyed it more. Some parts just seems unnecessary for the story and led to being a drag.
And the climax, I wasn’t happy with. But leaving my happiness aside, this book was real. We all know real life isn’t all rosy and lovely. This book makes you deal with the hard truth of the world. I respect this book for that and all that it portrays. This is the kind of story that makes you stop and just think.
All in all, I wouldn't say I loved the book, but I also wouldn't say I hated it. I would without a doubt give the next book of Cole’s a try.
I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review. And I thank the author for this opportunity.

***Blog Tour*** Daughters Of The Sea Series By Kristen Day

Once you’ve been touched by darkness, it never leaves you… Abandoned by her parents as an infant; seventeen year old Hannah spent her childhood wading through countless foster families until being adopted by the Whitmans three years ago. Unfortunately, Atlanta’s high society wasn’t quite ready for Hannah…or the strange events that plague her Chilling visions of murder, unexplained hallucinations, and a dark, mysterious guy who haunts her nightmares all culminate to set in motion a journey of self-discovery that will challenge everything she’s ever believed; not to mention her sanity. Sent to live at The House of Lorelei on Bald Head Island, NC for ‘kids like her’, Hannah quickly realizes things are not what they seem. Her fellow ‘disturbed’ teens are actually the descendants of mythical Sea Gods and Goddesses. And so is she. But when Finn, the ghost from her dreams, appears in the flesh; her nightmares become reality and her dark visions begin coming true. Inexplicably drawn to him, she can’t deny the dangerous hold he has on her heart. The deadly secrets he harbors will ultimately test her courage and push the boundaries of her love. She must decide if she is ready to embrace the ancient legend she is prophesized to be a part of. The fate of all the descendants will forever depend upon it.

The sacrifices we make have the power to shift the very fabric of who we are, and ultimately who we are meant to be… After learning of her true destiny as the intended Leader of the Tydes, Anastasia Whitman must now embark on a perilous quest to the Underworld before the age of eighteen in order to plant the seed of immortality and complete her essence to become a true Sea Goddess. But before she can make her legendary journey, an unexpected new student transfers to Lorelei; initiating a sequence of events that will unravel Stasia’s new life, and test the boundaries of her relationship with the mysterious, dark, and sexy Finn Morrison. The line between the Underworld and the Living begins to blur as gruesome ghosts, morbid reveries, and pure evil haunt her waking hours as well as her sanity. Once the details of Finn’s own startling destiny are revealed, the dangerous secrets he’s been hiding will threaten the very love Stasia believed to be indestructible. As time begins to run out, she will be forced to choose between the one she loves and the destiny she cannot escape.

The essence of who we are lies not in what we have, but in what we are willing to give up. Because in the end, Time and Tide wait for no one. After sacrificing all that she had, the evil princess of the Underworld is still successful in her bid to tear Finn from Stasia’s life. In the midst of her search to reclaim him, Stasia is summoned to the island nation of Cyprus to take part in an age-old ritual; unveiling the missing pieces of her ancestry and re-igniting an ancient war. As she struggles to both save Finn’s soul and free Carmen’s mind, Stasia’s bravery and determination will be pushed to its breaking point. A dark storm is forming on the horizon, and the forces who are vying to destroy her may be much closer than she thinks. Destiny weaves a sticky web of evil, betrayal, and revenge that can only be undone by the purity of love and the soul’s unyielding will to survive. In the last installment of the Daughters of the Sea trilogy, the past will collide with the present as Stasia’s future hangs in the balance. The prophecy that paved the way for her new life may indeed be the very thing that strips her of the ones she loves the most.

When the evil you fear is born from within, who will save us…from ourselves? Sometimes our souls hear what our minds and hearts refuse to accept. It will whisper its continuous cadence until we're strong enough to glimpse the truth. But when the soul's whispers morph into screams, we're forced to gaze into the mirrors of time and see ourselves for who we really are. Grappling with her newfound leadership position, Stasia begins to experience a recurring nightmare of murder, as well as curious reveries about a violet-eyed girl who can control the moon. When tragedy grips the Tydes and several important relics are stolen from the Sons of Daimon, Stasia’s Council leaves for the forgotten island of Atlantis. Unfortunately Atlantis harbors its own secrets, and they are all calling to Stasia. As her nightmares become worse and she begins to lose control of her mind, those around her must find a way to reach her…and fast. Olivia Campbell is used to getting what she wants, when she wants it. But destiny never asked Olivia what she wanted. Being Chosen to be a Paladin at birth had not been something she wanted, and she definitely hadn’t wanted her charge to be Anastasia. Unfortunately their irritatingly persistent Atlantean guide, Sebastian, seems to know all about her and the secrets she’s been hiding. As she fights to protect Stasia from an unknown force, Olivia’s own courage and loyalty will be tested in ways she never imagined. Will she be able to tell Stasia the truth before it’s too late for them both?

The age-old balance of light and dark will always find a way to be restored. At times it comes in the form of non-discriminate karma or the heavy hand of divine will. At other times that balance comes in the form of a single, teenage girl. My name is Fallon. I am different. I am special. My essence moves in a cadence unknown to the other Auras at the House of Eventide. It was born of the intricate dance of the moon's opposing forces; retract and advance, embrace and release. The brazen energy of the sun preys at the edges of my being; fraying its delicate balance and scorching my heart into submission. Only under the calming cover of night, can my essence shine freely. My true identity must be kept secret at all costs. My very existence is a threat to the Aura Order I pretend to be a part of. Should my web of lies unravel, they would stop at nothing to destroy me. I am the sole descendant of the light moon goddess, Luna . I have been Chosen. This is my story.

The thrilling last installment of the Daughters of the Sea series is the culmination of a breathtaking saga that will steal your heart and enchant your soul.
As the Atlantean Games draw near, every Order will descend upon the magical island of Atlantis; resurrecting an ancient tradition and setting in motion a fate determined centuries earlier. In her relentless search for retribution, Selene uncovers the one vulnerability capable of destroying not only Stasia, but all fifty of the Nereids. Traitors will emerge and old rivals are reawakened as Stasia discovers the shocking end of her elusive prophecy. With Fallon and Olivia still missing and an Army of Auras preparing for battle, Stasia and her Council must unlock the secrets of the Nereids and find a way to save their world before destiny intervenes. But like the Nereids themselves, even destiny is vulnerable to the sands of time.

***Cover Reveal*** CAT LOVE by Sunniva Dee.

Cat love banner

Cat lov front

Title: Cat Love
Author: Sunniva Dee
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Release Date: October 5, 2015
Cover Design: Clarise Tan, CT Cover Creations

A sexy thriller about the animal in all of us. Aidan uses his superpower to stabilize minds at the Hollyreed Specialist Hospital. Ulani uses hers to chase rats on rooftops. Until she’s caught and deposited in Aidan’s care. At the hospital, Aidan finds Ulani's room empty—save for a cat, whose fur retracts in favor of silky skin and a vamp-gorgeous femme fatale. Aidan’s obsession with Ulani grows— While patients at the hospital go missing.

At twenty-three, you think you’ve experienced a lot. Been there, done that for the most part. Older people might laugh at you for expressing such beliefs, but you still don’t expect to come across reality-altering experiences. Here I am, with the morning energy of Seven setting in around me as I carry a small, lost cat from the locked unit back to my apartment… only the bundle of fur is changing. There’s something wrong, I think, my thought natural and instinctive. But when her coat retracts against my hand, replaced by smooth, human skin, my intuition withdraws too and checks out. I think I roar while she expands in my arms. I’m frozen in place, my vocal cords the only part of me responding. She grows heavier, longer, wider, until she plops from my hold and onto the floor. Vamp-red hair flames around her in bright waves, and is that a snarl lifting her lip? For an instant, I swipe the hallway with my eyes, hoping someone sees what I see. No nurses, no doctors, only Mrs. Anderson’s ancient husband is there, fists clutching his walking chair while he takes in the apparition between us. Not a thread covers stunning porcelain skin. She swings, bereaving me of my fleeting view of a small ruby-red triangle and kiss-shaped nipples, and leaps to the breakroom yards from where I stand. Ulani’s gone. It takes me a moment to react. I meet old Robert Anderson’s incredulous gaze, and I shake my head at him, both denying what we’ve experienced and assuring him that we’re together in this. As I turn to follow her, he mutters, “Holy God,” behind me, and my next session with a patient will have to be with Robert. He’s been free of Dr. Holstein’s treatments because of his quiet ways, but if he starts talking about this, he’ll quickly become another notch in the good doctor’s lab desk. I just experienced something I never thought possible. A freaking cat morphed into a woman. Hell, this is what dreams and movies are made of. At the same time, I’m conditioned to react to the needs of my patients, which is why I chase after her now. Besides Ulani, no one’s in the breakroom. She’s got part of the curtains draped around her, forming an orange toga, and bare toes with scarlet nail polish peek out. She’s stunning, but more than my physical attraction to her, her emotions fascinate me. My years in this hospital are few, but the number of hours I’ve worked could double the years, and now it’s time to cloak myself in professionalism. “Ulani,” I say. “Are you okay?” It’s a simple yet necessary question. Since I have no experience with cat women, I’m not privy to the sort of strain such a transformation can have on their bodies. Her glare is not human, I realize. I was struck by the beauty of those irises the last time I saw her. Now, she narrows my view of saturated emeralds behind slitted eyes. She’s suspicious but not afraid—neither is she the slightest bit confused. This girl has issues, but they’re not on the mental level. “Don’t. Say. Anything.” Ulani enunciates the words one by one, putting so much emphasis into her command that her intensity reverberates in my chest. Efficient footsteps clack down the corridor outside. The slight shuffle of Dr. Holstein’s gait accompanies it. Laurie replies to his orders with “right, of course” and “certainly, Dr. Holstein,” but then they both come to a dead halt in the doorway. “I found Ulani,” I say quietly. “Remy, John!” Dr. Holstein barks down the hallway. “I need your assistance immediately.”

Review : Vampire Academy By Richelle Mead

Summary :

Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with a rare gift for harnessing the earth's magic. She must be protected at all times from Strigoi; the fiercest vampires—the ones who never die. The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa's best friend, makes her a dhampir. Rose is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from the Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making Lissa one of them.

After two years of freedom, Rose and Lissa are caught and dragged back to St. Vladimir's Academy, a school for vampire royalty and their guardians-to-be, hidden in the deep forests of Montana. But inside the iron gates, life is even more fraught with danger…and the Strigoi are always close by.

Rose and Lissa must navigate their dangerous world, confront the temptations of forbidden love, and never once let their guard down, lest the evil undead make Lissa one of them forever…

Review :

Dimitri is honestly my favourite male book character. He's the most beautiful creature! He's a badass god and always has this facade of control that Rose can always see through. Their relationship goes farther than a relationship because they both know what their mission in life is; "to protect them."

Rose, being the tough, no bullshit, type of girl she is, knows that too and it starts to sink in when this motto starts to directly effect her life majorly. Her goal in life has always been to protect her best friend Lissa and you know there's trouble when she starts to question that.

This book has been driving me crazy, people actually started to question my sanity everytime I put the book down.Yes, I'm love with a fictional character in a book; Dimitri (just in case you didn't feel the awesomeness pouring off of his name)

Pre-Order Links:

Lauren Michaels is exhausted with the push and pull of copy editing for Los Angeles’s woman’s magazine, Frenzy, which caters to pop culture, style, and above all, sex.
She wants to write for the magazine rather than edit, but her boss is convinced that Lauren’s conservative tendencies won’t fit in with the risqué nature of what Frenzy is about. Convinced to make her mark, Lauren begs for the chance to prove her self. Her boss agrees, tasking her with the impossible, in hopes of failure, because although she doesn’t want her to become a journalist, she doesn’t want to lose her as Editor-in-Chief, either. Her daunting mission? To investigate the growing popularity of sex clubs in Los Angeles, and figure out how the sensual underworld functions. Out of her element, Lauren starts her search with pen and paper in hand at a local sex shop, hoping she’ll find a trail that leads to the dark lairs of sex and fetishes. Trying to hide her inexperience, and pretending she’s a professional sex kitten, this trail instead leads her to one brooding, Nathan Sanders. He’s daunting, charming, and a little too dark and mysterious for her taste, but Lauren knows he’s what she needs as her way in. What she doesn’t see coming is that Nathan is all too willing to invite her to a nightclub she’s only ever heard stories about, and also the fact that Nathan know’s Lauren doesn’t have a clue what she’s getting herself into. However, he can’t turn down the idea of helping her out with her research once she confesses the whole story. This could be fun, they said. There’s no harm in it, they agreed. Little do they know, a little research can serve up some unexpected results.

I nudge my chin toward him to imply the same. He grins, and his eyes are all over my body at once, dragging quickly over my face, down my chest, my hips, legs, and to my toes before making the same journey back up. I feel like his private exhibit. I twirl his card between the fingertips of both of my index fingers, giving him my own head-to-toe glance. “Do you do this often? Stroll into this place and ask for sex?” Saying the word sex out loud feels terrifying, but also empowering, because that’s what this shop is about, and that’s exactly what it means when a place like Fahrenheit is brought up. I may not know what the hell I’m doing, but I refuse to let these lines get blurred in the process. Let’s not confuse the context. I’m (apparently) agreeing to have sex with Nathan Sanders, and I just met him. He’s so much taller than me, so when he leans toward me, he’s looming over my frame, but his presence seems to encase me, pulling me in with one swift move. I try to remember that this is about research, and gaining an understanding of what the world of sex clubs and fetishes are about, but when I stare at someone like Nathan Sanders, I start to forget my reasons for standing here. Having his full attention feels almost like a gift. I like the way he looks at me, even if I don’t know him, and while I want to know more about Fahrenheit, a part of me wonders what dark secrets this guy has, too. Regardless, one thing proves very true right now, that whoever he is, Nathan Sanders wants to fuck me, and I can’t imagine a better person who I’d let be my guide, whether he knows it or not. It’s in the name of science, I tell myself. My natural inclination to be responsible and compassionate feels bad for being deceptive, but I remember that when a place like Fahrenheit is involved, normally the person doesn’t care about the why you want to fuck them, they just care about the fact you want to. No need to trouble oneself with the details. I mean, he pretty much invited me for sex before knowing my name. “Call me when you’re sure,” he blurts out, catching me completely off guard, and pulling me out of my analyzation. “When I’m sure?” I repeat back. I thought we just decided that I was. “I want you to think on it. Curiosity killed the cat, ya know? Just think about it tonight, call me tomorrow when you’re sure, and we’ll go from there. If you know what Fahrenheit is then you’ll know that it’s not a decision to take lightly.” My brows pull together. “I look forward to the call, Lauren.” “Sure thing, Nate,” I blatantly chide, enunciating the “t” sharply, finding it funny that although he gave me the option to reconsider, he already seems pretty sure about the outcome. His beautiful mouth does that twitchy thing again with his eyebrow. “Pleasure meeting you,” he says, his voice sounding deeper and more mysterious now. “Pleasure was all mine,” I reply, watching him stroll out of the shop, seemingly empty handled, but I assure you, I’m pretty sure he somehow gained ownership of my curiosity, while I seem to be holding the key to his adventure.

Excerpt :

He brushes his fingers over the hem of my dress like he's brushing off my comment. "I'm never going to love you, Kat. But while we're together, I'll make sure you don't want for anything."
"What about... it's not like I can have a secret boyfriend on the side," I say. "Not that I want to. I mean... you're very handsome. More handsome than any other guys I know."
"You want to fuck me." It's a statement, not a question.
"Yes." I barely manage to get it out. "Not necessarily today. But eventually."
"This part is real." He leans a little closer. His hands slide over the sides of my chest. Over my shoulders.
His eyes are fixed on mine. It's so intense I have to look away. He pulls the strap of my dress aside slowly, like he's asking for permission. I lean into him, and his lips press against my neck.
Heat rushes through my body. It's been so long since I've been kissed, touched, anything. I dated guys in high school, but I never... I don't have any experience.
I close my eyes and surrender to the sensation. Blake pulls my dress off my shoulders. He cups my breast, over my bra. Kisses a trail from my lips to my collarbone.
"What does this mean?" I ask. "We haven't agreed to anything."
He shifts so we're eye to eye. "Is there anything else you want?"
"How long will this be? Is it indefinite?"
"Until I don't need the ruse anymore."
"And how long will that be? I want to fall in love one day. To get married and maybe even have a family. I can't be the billionaire's fake girlfriend forever."
Dread creeps onto Blake's face. "Six months. A year at most."
I study his expression. It's something that hurts him, but he's not about to let me in. "Is there an out?"
"I'll only accept a full commitment."
Some of that dread passes through me. So much could go wrong. Blake could turn out to be an abusive asshole. I could meet Prince Charming and fall madly in love tomorrow.
But agreeing would mean an end to that awful mortgage, an education for my sister, and at least six months of living without pinching pennies.
Whatever the risk there is of losing myself in Blake's role, it's worth it. "Okay." I offer my hand to shake.
He takes it. "I'll have my lawyer draft a contract. We'll sign tomorrow."
He stares deeply into my eyes. "This will move fast. We need to clean you up this week."
I bite my tongue. It's a role. I need to look a certain way. Nothing personal. "I work nights and weekends."
"You'll switch to lunches. No Saturdays."
"I'll never keep my job."
"I'll have a word with your manager," he says.
Just like that, he'll snap his fingers and everything will fall into his lap. Must be nice to have that kind of power.
"No, I'll convince her," I say. She does owe me one.
"I'll pick you up at 9 A.M. Saturday."
Jesus, that's early for someone who works mostly nights. "As long as you bring coffee."
He brushes my hair from my shoulder. "When you're with me, Kat, I'll take care of everything."
He nods.
He nods.
"What else?"
He runs his hands over my bra. "Clothing."
"Oh, that stands for clothing, does it?"
He nods.
His lips close over mine. It's magic. Like one of those scenes in a movie where fireworks explode over a pretty pink castle. Blake's lips are soft and sweet, but there's something so commanding about his kiss.
I run my hands through his hair. It's short, brown, and some perfect mix of billionaire CEO and low-key programmer. Soft. His lips and hair are so soft but everything else about him is so hard.
He slips his fingertips into my bra and brushes them lightly over my nipples.
My body shakes with pleasure. It's been so long since anyone has given my breasts any attention, and he moves with a perfect finesse.
I sigh into his mouth, unwrapping my legs so I can slide into his lap. The details of this deal fade into the back of my mind. They seem so much less important than my body against his.
His tongue explores every nook of my mouth. I dig my hands into the soft fabric of his shirt until I can feel the hard contours of his muscles.
Desire overwhelms me. I've never wanted anyone this much. I never even knew you could want someone this much.
He tugs at my dress, but he's pulling it back on, back over my shoulder.
My head is spinning. He's not... but he... he can't stop now, not when I feel so damn exhilarated.
"It's late," he says.
I blink a few times, but he's still staring at me with that same impenetrable look on his face. "What else?" I ask. "Besides food, coffee, and clothing?"
"You'll come when you're with me, Kat. I'll make sure of it."
"But not tonight?"
"Not yet." He shifts off the couch. "I'll walk you out."
"I can walk myself."
I reach for my coat, but Blake is already holding it. He helps me into it.
His fingers brush against my neck, soft and light. Heat floods my body. It's everywhere. I can barely stand it. But not tonight, apparently. Not yet.
Patience is supposed to be a virtue. I've never hated virtue so damn much.
I squeeze my purse tightly[JM1] . I'm about to sign my freedom away in exchange for my sister's future. For our future. A little sexual frustration is the least of my concerns.
Blake walks me to the elevator. He waves his key card in front of the door. "I'll have one made for you."
"Jordan will take you home. If you need anything, call."
"I'll be fine."
His stare is intense. "Anything."
That same flutter collects inside me. He can't mean sex. He just sent me out of his office with my dress falling off my shoulders.
I clear my throat. Blake is a mystery I'm not going to solve. My best hope is enjoying the ride.
I step into [JM2] the elevator. "Goodnight."
He nods.
The doors slide closed, and I finally exhale. Almost home. It's a quick ride to the ground floor. As promised, the limo is waiting out front.
Inside, I check the mini bar for something that will ease the tension. But this isn't the kind of problem a drink solves.
The door closes. Jordan speaks into his earpiece. "Understood, sir." The partition rolls up with a quiet whir.
I'm as good as alone.
My phone rings in my purse. Blake. What the hell?
I answer. "Hello."
"I said anything, Kat."
"I was there."
"You want something."
My heart races. Of course I want something. He's not an idiot. "Yes."
"So ask for it."
Heat rushes through me, collecting between my legs. "I..."
"Take off your underwear. I want to hear you come."
