**Prologue**

Back Where The Entire Adventure Began

As soon as the engine began to sputter, I knew that I was in real trouble. Up until then, I had
somehow managed to convince myself that there was just something wrong with the fuel gauges.
After all, how could I possibly have burnt through my remaining fuel as quickly as the gauges
seemed to indicate? It simply wasn't possible. But with the engine choking and gasping, clinging
to life on the last fumes of aviation fuel, it was clear that when the fuel gauges read, "Empty,"
they weren't kidding around.

The lightning strike that took out my radio and direction-finding gear hadn't worried me all
that much. (Okay, I admit it worried me a little bit.) It wasn't the first time that this had happened
to me, and besides, I still had my compasses to direct me to where I was going. But I did get a
little bit concerned when I found nothing but open ocean as far my eyes could see at precisely
the location where I fully expected to find tiny Howland Island—and its supply of fuel for the
next leg of my journey—waiting for me. The rapidly descending needles on my fuel gauges made
me even more nervous as I continued to scout for the island, but only when the engine began to
die did I realize that I really had a serious problem on my hands.

The mystery of the disappearing fuel.

The enigma of the missing island.

The conundrum of what do I do now?

"Exactly," the little voice inside my head said to me in one of those annoying 'I-told-you-so'
kind of voices. "What do you do now?"
"First, I am going to stay calm," I replied. "And think this through."
"You'd better think fast," the little voice said, and I could almost hear it tapping on the face
of a tiny wristwatch somewhere up there in my psyche. "If you want to make it to your twentieth
birthday, that is. Don't forget that you're almost out of fuel."
"Thanks a lot," I replied. "You're a big help."

Easing forward with the control wheel I pushed my trusty De Havilland Beaver into a
nosedive. Residual fuel from the custom-made fuel tanks at the back of the passenger cabin
dutifully followed the laws of gravity and spilled forward, accumulating at the front and allowing
the fuel pumps to transfer the last remaining drops of fuel into the main forward belly tank. This
maneuver breathed life back into the engine and bought me a few more precious minutes to
ponder my situation.

"Mayday, mayday, mayday," I said, keying my radio transmitter as I leveled my flight path out
again. "This is aircraft Charlie Foxtrot Kilo Tango Yankee, calling any ground station or vessel
hearing this message, over."

I keyed the mic off and listened intently for a reply. Any reply. Please? But there was nothing.
There was barely even static. My radio was definitely fried.
It was hard to believe that it would all come down to this. After the months of preparation
and training. After all the adventures that I'd had, the friends I'd made, the beauty I'd
experienced, the differences and similarities I'd discovered from one culture to the next and from
one human being to the next. All of this in the course of my epic flight around the entire world.

Or I should say, "my epic flight almost around the entire world," in light of my current
situation.

And the irony of it was absolutely incredible. Three-quarters of a century earlier the most
famous female pilot of them all had disappeared over this exact same endless patch of Pacific
Ocean on her own quest to circle the globe. And she had disappeared while searching for
precisely the same island that was also eluding me as I scanned the horizon with increasing
desperation.

"Okay," I thought to myself. "Just be cool and take this one step at a time to think the
situation through." I closed my eyes and focused on my breathing, slowing it down and reining
in the impulse to panic. Inside my head, I quickly and methodically replayed every flight that I'd
ever flown. Every emergency I'd ever faced. Every grain of experience that I had accumulated
along the long road that had led me to this very moment. Somewhere in there was a detail that
was the solution to my current predicament. I was sure of it. And all I had to do was find it.

Maybe the answer to my current situation lay somewhere among the ancient temples of
Angkor in Cambodia? Or in the steamy jungles of east Africa? Or inside the towering pyramids
of Giza? Or among the soaring minarets of Sarajevo? Or on the emerald rolling hills and cliffs of
western Ireland? Or on the harsh and rocky lava fields of Iceland?

Wherever the answer was, it was going to have to materialize quickly, or another female pilot
(me) would run the risk of being as well-known throughout the world as Amelia Earhart. And for
exactly the same reason.

"It's been a good run at least," the little voice inside my head observed, turning oddly
philosophical as the fuel supplies ran critically low. "You've had more experiences on this journey
around the world than some people do in their entire lifetime."

"That's it!" I thought.

Maybe the answer to all this lies even further back in time? All the way back to the summer
that had inspired me to undertake this epic journey in the first place. All the way back to where
North America meets the Pacific Ocean—the islands and glaciers and whales of Alaska.
All the way back to where this entire adventure began.

***Cover Reveal*** Taking Chances By Ariadne Wayne

Ariadne Wayne - Taking Chances - Cover Reveal
Contemporary Romance
Date Published: 3/30/2014

Lauren and Mark Burrows lost their parents in a car accident one night. Despite their father being the drunk driver, both struggle with the urge to turn to drink; Lauren most of all. When all they have is each other, Lauren feels lost when Mark falls in love with Cassie Warren and moves out.

Ethan Stone has been alone since his divorce. His ex-wife took him for everything, and he has felt empty for a long time. He's not looking for love, but Lauren brings him back to life. The question is whether she can fight her demons for the man she loves, and if Ethan can handle the wild ride that is life with Lauren.

EXCERPT

Ethan leaned over to kiss her. “I’m looking forward to going to bed too. If I’m invited.”
She laughed, slapping his arm. “Are you kidding? After all that fuss at the door, you had better bring your A game tonight, Mister.”
“I don’t know about that, but I could do with loving you some more. We’ll have to leave pretty early. My schedule is full tomorrow.”
“You still came?”
“Lauren, I told you. You’re worth the effort. If I have to look for work down here, I will.”
“I can’t believe anyone would do that for me.”
“I love you. Even if you don’t feel the same way, I’ll be there when you need me.”
She kissed him. This man was special, and he was hers.
“I do feel the same way. My whole life, no-one ever loved me,” she said.
“I bet that’s a lie. You have such a good heart. Anyone who doesn’t love you isn’t worth knowing.”
“Can we skip dinner and get to the bed part?”
Ethan squeezed her hand. “Not after the effort I put in. Maybe afterwards.”
“Well, you can’t wash the dishes. There’s no hot water left.”
“You didn’t leave any for me?”
Lauren draped her arms over Ethan’s shoulders. “No. You should have joined me.”
“Next time, beautiful.”
She looked away, not wanting to meet his gaze. “What is it, Lauren?”
“No-one’s ever called me that before.”
    “Well, get used to it.”

***Out Now*** The Broken Parts Of Us By Ker Dukey

Blurb :

Some people search their whole life for a connection -- a reason to be here, and feel life in all of its intensity..

But what if you never wanted to experience that emotion?

Jasper lived his life coldly determined never to fall in love.
Some people impact your life in a moment, and will stay in your life forever from then on. What if an irresistible force crashes into you -- not once, but twice, and from a totally unexpected source? Jasper must overcome past demons that are still plaguing him and his friends.
He must face future choices he never knew he would have to make. Sexual chemistry can come in all forms. When the lines blur between friendship, love and lust, a new darkness finds its way into their lives.

Either these relationships survive or die forever broken ……in The Broken Parts of Us

Excerpt (Jasper)

Coming to the dance studio was like slow torture for one reason. Kyra. She's a dance instructor here...

She stirs something inside me, primal and deep that I refuse to give knowledge to. She's also my wet fucking dream. I want inside that tight little body so bad, but she's important to River, and as bad as I want her, I know I won't want her for longer than my needs take to be satisfied. So I don't pursue her, even though when she smiles at me, all nervous and coy, my dick strains against my jeans. I have to hold him there to stop him from tearing through and slithering up her leg.

Excerpt (Derek)

Jasper’s nightmares, and the frantic call from River telling me Michael pushed her down the stairs; her sobbing cries telling me he was Danny’s, left me really not feeling up for company tonight.
Danny still haunts us after six long years. I would never change the family I ended up with from the rubble of Danny’s earth-shattering actions, but I'm so angry that they're  still suffering, and would give anything to take away the damage he inflicted.
People don’t realise trauma stays with you. It may fade, it may become easier to cope with, but it’s like scar tissue; it will always be there and no amount of healing can rid you of it.
Not all scars are visible. Sometimes the worst scars are the ones you can’t see; they’re the ones that hold your mind hostage in nightmares. They’re the ones that manipulate your emotions, making guilt crawl into your mind, polluting reasonable thought. Guilt can be so hard to live with; consuming and painful.
People think death is the worst thing that can happen but it’s not, it’s the living that other people have to go on doing once someone we love is taken from this world. It’s the what ifs that constantly replay in our minds. It’s the did they know I loved them? What would they be like if they were here now? How do I get up today and live with this agony?
The only thing that makes it slightly easier is having family to live for, to love, to get up and go on coping for. River has become like a sister to me. She fills a void left by my own sister; her death still plagues me and I feel responsible for her taking her life. River and I share this same grief. We are bonded by a shared misery; a painful sorrow that is a part of us.

Sammy has become like the brother I never had. We share a love for River, but also we are survivors. We have both looked the devil in the eye and lived to breathe another day.

How will she survive her new life, with her options slowly disappearing as this fateful night wears on?

REVIEW :

***ARC received by the author for an honest review***

Pawns is a prequel novella that tells the story of Leslie, one of the characters in Rook which is the first book in the Timeless Games Series .
It took me exactly a minute to remember who Leslie was since the story of ROOK came back to me instantly. Also did I remember that I really liked that book. :D
After remembering Leslie I recalled that I hadn't like her very much in ROOK but knew that there was something more to her than what had been portrayed. Pawns is Leslie’s story and honestly it’s heartbreaking. It actually explains a lot of her decisions from ROOK and lets you know exactly how she ends up with Chase in the first place. Her parents are terrible and she has had a miserable life. I have conflicted feelings towards her right now. Should I like her any better or shouldn't I? No matter the answer to that knowing more of her background helps me to understand some of the decisions that she made in ROOK. So she has my sympathy there.

Overall, I'd say that I did enjoy reading PAWNS. It sure will help you understand Leslie's character much better.

As Sadie finds answers, she realizes her life isn't as perfect as she thought. Not only is she caught in a world of dangerous secret agents she never knew existed, but it turns out her true identity may be the greatest secret of all.

REVIEW :

***ARC received for an honest review***

So happy to say that I said yes to review this book. I really liked it. Loved the lead characters Sadie & Rayne. Oh Rayne!

"I stared at his suntanned chest. I was usually better controlled around muscles,
but in this case, I just kept staring.
He glanced at me from the corner of his eye and turned back to my direction. I'd swear he was holding back asmile. Was he purposely teasing me?"

Okay I'm gonna leave my swooning for later. *Grin*

“You make it sound like I’m perfect or something. Nobody’s perfect.”
His voice was soft. “To me you are…”

I liked the writing style a lot obviously because it kept me hooked to the story. Being inside Sadie's head was real fun. I could feel what she felt, the sudden sadness, her determination to be cheerful, her instant attraction to Rayne. Though Rayne & Sadie were star-crossed lovers I would have liked a little more romance between them. Rayne! You hear me? You gotta let go a little. Lose some control boy!!

Moving on to the story, Sadie here lives a happy life with her mother. She doesn't know her father since he left before she was even born. She believes that she would never see him again or hear his voice only she doesn't know how wrong she would be. Than one fine day she had the sudden urge to cry so to get out of that sadness she went to the beach. Enter Rayne. Seeing Rayne, Sadie feels an almost uncontrollable attraction to him. She feels like she knows him but doesn't remember how or why or when.

Rayne’s hands opened outward in frustration.
“I can think of nothing else but speaking to her again. I find myself distracted, unable to focus, longing for the exhilaration of her company, planning a future with her that can never be
possible…”

As the story proceeds, secrets are revealed, some may surprise you, some you may never see coming! Who is Rayne? What is the silver liquid he always carries around with him? Why does she feel like they belong together yet he flat out refuses to encourage her feelings. Oh  and did that guy just say that Sadie was his daughter? (wink)

Find out the answers to these questions in this great start to a series DEEP BLUE SECRET. Oh where is the sequel, I need to go get that! ;)

Review : Wrecked (Wrecked #1) By Priscilla West

SUMMARY :

“There would be no happy ending for us. He was too damaged. I was too broken.”

Two years ago, Lorrie’s mother was murdered. But that wasn’t the end of it. Reeling from the tragedy, Lorrie’s father spiraled into alcohol, depression, and finally suicide.

The two most important people in Lorrie’s life are both gone but she’s still alive.

Trying to recover from the tragedy, Lorrie returns to campus, ready to pick up the pieces of her life. All Lorrie wants is to get back to “normal.”

Then she meets Hunter. The man, the legend, “the Hammer.”

Hunter is a cage fighter who takes on every fight like he’s got nothing to lose. His life is a tangled mess of girls, booze, and fist fights. And while it may seem like he’s got a devil-may-care attitude, he’s fighting a private cage-match with a monster he can’t defeat.

Lorrie knows that Hunter is the exact type of guy she should stay away from, especially in her fragile state, but Hunter has other ideas.

As Hunter and Lorrie grow closer together, will they be able to overcome their pain and heal each other? Or will they both end up wrecked?

WRECKED
RESCUED (WRECKED BOOK TWO: Coming Early 2014)

Review :

"We're both drowning, Hunter."
I sobbed, trying to push him away but he held me tightly.
"I'm flailing like an idiot and I'm just going to
pull you down with me! We're both going to drown,
can't you see that? I can't do that to you, Hunter..."

I think my heart just broke into pieces. Hunter! How?? How could you bear Lorrie's burden when you had such a big one of your own? My heart shatters everytime I think about it!

About the character's now. I understand what and why Lorrie's couldn't trust anyone or couldn't get into a relationship with Hunter I do really, but as the story progressed I felt her to be overreacting. A lot. I mean okay we get it that you've been through hell. But c'mon girl you gotta be a bit more sensitive to others too. They have their own shit going on. I dont want to spoil the story for those who haven't read it yet but I have to spill out what pissed me off the most in the story.

During the last fight in the end when Hunter was on his deathbed he pleaded Lorrie to not leave him & she was like "I have to go,I'm sorry" and all that crap! I mean how dare you claim to love someone who need you as his next breath and just walk away!!??!!

THAT REALLY PISSED ME OFF A LOT! I wanted to become Ada at that moment and slap some sense into Lorrie!

Phew! I think I've let off some steam that had gathered up after reading the end. I did really love Daniela & Gary's characters. They were simply wonderful and the best friends you could ask for. I hope they get a story of their own. Priscilla..I hope you hear me! *Grin*

Overall, it was a good story. It kept me interested & turning the pages till the end. Any book which does hat to me will always remain a good book. Wrecked sure was one of them. I simply cannot wait for the conclusion of this story which continues in RESCUED. Hopefully in which Lorrie comes to her senses before literally wrecking her, & hunter's life & happiness as well as ruining the story for me! Finger's crossed for Rescued.

Synopsis:

All her life, clever Aemi has been a slave in the Village of the Rocks, a place where the sea and sky meet. She’s heard the stories about the fabled People of the Sea, a people who possess unimaginable technology who live below the waves in the dark, secret places of the ocean. But she never dreamed those stories were true.

When a ship emerges from the ocean and men burn her village, Aemi is captured, and enslaved below the waves in Itlantis, a world filled with ancient cities of glass and metal, floating gardens, and wondrous devices that seem to work magic. To make matters worse, her village nemesis, the stuck-up mayor’s son Nol, was captured with her, and they are made servants in the same household beneath the sea.

Desperate to be free, Aemi plots her escape, even going so far as to work with Nol. But the sea holds more secrets than she realizes, and escape might not be as simple as leaving…

I've been making up stories since I was five years old, and now I'm thrilled to be able to do it as a full-time job. I have an obsession with dark fantasy, dystopian futures, and Pride and Prejudice-style love stories full of witty banter and sizzling, unspoken feelings. When I'm not writing, I'm creating digital art, reading funny blogs, or watching my favorite shows (which include TVD and BSG). I live with my geeky husband and our two bad cats in Atlanta, GA.

REVIEW : Crush (Crash #3) By Nicole Williams

Football glory. A giant diamond. A wandering eye.

Jude and Lucy are happily engaged . . . but that doesn't mean life's a bed of roses.

Once again, Jude and Lucy are torn apart by football training and a summer job that creates new tensions. This time Jude's the one with trust issues. Will Lucy's life-changing news bring them back together or end their relationship for good? Can love triumph forever?

Review :

" I'll always come back, Luce. No matter how many rip-roaring fights we have and no matter how many miscommunications we have. I'll always come back because you're where I belong."

It's decided. Jude & Lucy have a special place in my heart forever! <3

I loved, let me repeat LOVED this book! The main thing that I loved about this book was that Jude and Lucy dealt with all of their problems, and they were so much determined and determined to keep their relationship strong.

There were all kinds of emotions, all sorts of misunderstanding, but at the end of the day there was this bright light of happiness.

Jude has improved a lot. Like way lot. I don't even know if that makes sense. I remember him in Crash. He was so violent, anger, and immature. And now in Crush, he is this sweet, responsible man, who accepted his life with his new wife and his daughter. Lucy, was a rollercoaster of emotions. And that was so very normal. She had been through a lot, and she just proved herself to be more strong. And I'm proud of both of them.

Their love was so pure, so unconditional and unadulterated that just when I thought they couldn't make me any more happy, they did. As I mentioned in the beginning, their story will be my favorite always!

RATING : 5/5 Stars
